Overview

The Certificate in Criminal Justice Leadership equips current and aspiring criminal justice professionals with the critical thinking skills and leadership competencies necessary to succeed in law enforcement agencies’ leadership roles. Through a curriculum grounded in advanced leadership theory, research methods, and a hands-on capstone experience, students will be able to critically assess and navigate the complexities of organizational behavior, ethical decision-making, policy analysis and evidence-based practices.

The program emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving and the application of interdisciplinary approaches to meet criminal justice leadership’s unique demands and challenges.

Overview

The market for homeland security and emergency preparedness jobs continues to grow, both in the public and private sectors. To meet this demand, Great Bay is the first community college in New Hampshire to offer a two-year degree which will provide emergency response professionals with the skills and expertise needed to effectively plan for, and respond to natural or man-made disasters and emergencies.

鈥� Prospective students with special needs or limitations that may affect their internship placement and/or potential employability are encouraged to discuss their career goals during the interview with a department member before admission.

鈥� The college must ensure that individuals (customers, employees, etc.) at internship and service-learning sites are not adversely affected by students during learning experiences. Therefore, students participating in internship and field experiences must demonstrate the emotional stability required to exercise sound judgment, accept direction and guidance from a supervisor or faculty member, and establish rapport and maintain sensitive interpersonal relationships with employees, customers, and clients.

Biotechnology is a field that has enormous implications for the future of the 21st century and has impacted our lives by revolutionizing how we diagnose and treat disease, lengthen life spans, feed the planet, and remediate the environment.

Our nationally recognized Biotechnology program prepares students with the skills and knowledge needed to enter the biotechnology industry or continue their education. Certificates are for students who want to enter the Biotechnology industry without committing to the associate degree.听

Your experience in the Early Childhood Education certificate program provides you with beginning knowledge and skills to implement positive learning experiences for young children. Six college classes, including one Practicum and two ECE electives, meet the requirements for lead teacher in an early childhood child care program in New Hampshire.

TEACH Early Childhood New Hampshire (TEACH NH) provides comprehensive scholarships to enable early educations to take coursework leading to a degree by making it possible for them to afford both the time and expense of going to school.

Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program combines college instruction and work experience to enhance the quality of care for children while increasing the apprentice’s skill level and wages.

The Early Childhood Education Certificate Program is approved for funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program. This can include up to听$6,500听of tuition assistance and听$1,500听of support services that can help eliminate various barriers to employment.

Program-Specific Requirements

Students enrolled in the ECE program must demonstrate emotional stability to withstand the ever-changing circumstances and are able to respond quickly and appropriately as events require in the early childhood environment. Students are also expected to have the maturity to accept direction and guidance, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality and sensitive interpersonal relationships with teachers, fellow students, children and families.

Admissions Criteria

All students are welcome to enroll in Early Childhood classes; however, when enrolled in ECE112G, where field placement is required, they must be able to meet technical standards for the field and New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Bureau requirements for health and background checks for child care personnel.听 It is recommended that students begin the background check process upon entering the ECE program if not already employed in a NH child care program.听 See the department chair for more information.听

Prospective students with special needs requiring accommodations that may affect their practicum placement or employment options are advised to discuss specific career objectives with the program coordinator during the admissions process.

Technical Requirements

Technical Standards have been established to provide insight to students as to the skills and abilities required to function successfully in the ECE program and eventually the profession. Applicants who do not feel they can successfully meet these should contact the ECE program coordinator before applying to the program. Students enrolling in the Early Childhood Education program must have sufficient strength, stamina, motor coordination, and sensory capabilities to perform the following:

鈥� Standing for sustained periods of time, walking, running, bending, sitting on the floor and on child-size furniture to meet the child鈥檚 needs and accomplish tasks.

鈥� Frequent lifting, moving and transferring children, especially infants and toddlers.

鈥� Sufficient visual and hearing acuity to ensure a safe environment and the ability to respond quickly to children, colleagues, and professional partners in the event of an emergency.

鈥� Sufficient verbal ability to express and exchange information and ideas as well as to interpret important instructions to and from children, colleagues and parents.

鈥� Sufficient skills in written expression to accurately record children鈥檚 daily progress and milestones as well as medications administered, accident and suspected child abuse/neglect reports, etc.

鈥� Ability to work with frequent interruptions, to respond appropriately in unexpected situations, and to cope with extreme variations in workload and stress levels.

鈥� Students must have reliable transportation to travel to and from practicum settings and have sustained health as outlined in Child Care Personnel Health form to fulfill time commitment as agreed in the Practicum contract.

鈥� Ability to respond to children鈥檚 personal needs, including changing diapers, in a manner that safeguards the health and safety of the student, children, and staff.

鈥� Ability to work in a professional and respectful manner with a diverse range of children and their families including those from different races, cultures, religions, and ethnicities as well as children with a wide range of disabling conditions.

鈥� Ability to maintain professional boundaries in both the school and home environments.

鈥� Ability and disposition to adhere to and practice the set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

Health and Practicum Considerations

鈥� Required 51黑料网 Health Form on file with the Department chair prior to ECE112G if not completing site hours in work settings.

鈥� Required New Hampshire Child Care Personnel Health Form on file that indicates that the student has no apparent health problems that would prohibit him/her from caring for children prior to practicum.

鈥� Required background check of 鈥渃lear鈥� or 鈥渘on-disqualifying鈥� prior to practicum. The cost of the record check and fingerprinting is the responsibility of the student.

鈥� Completion of practicum hours during regular morning hours in order to meet the course requirements.

鈥� Transportation to and from the practicum site is the responsibility of the student.

鈥� Participation in an internship requires the student to follow the College Immunization Policy. Depending upon the site, the student may be required to possess and maintain professional liability insurance.

鈥� For unpaid internships, the student must possess and maintain accident insurance.

鈥� Faculty work closely to with students to identify appropriate placements for Practicum and take into consideration location of the facility, licensing status, mentor qualification and ages of children served. Current job sites may not be an option for all placements.

鈥� All practicum sites are subject to practicum coordinator approval.

In addition to Great Bay transfer credit policies, transfer of courses in Early Childhood Education more than five years old from the time of acceptance will be evaluated by the program coordinator on an individual basis.

Students understand many academic disciplines and strategies for teaching them. They apply this knowledge using early learning standards to make decisions about spontaneous and planned learning experiences and about curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation to ensure that learning will be stimulating, challenging, and meaningful to each child.

Standard 6: Professionalism as an Early Childhood Educator

Students identify and participate as members of the early childhood profession and know how to advocate for young children, families, and the profession. They know and use ethical and other early childhood professional guidelines, and communicate effectively in their work with young children, families, and colleagues. Early Childhood Education Tuition Assistance

This grant program is available through a partnership with Granite State College and the Division of Children Youth & Families, Department of Health and Human Resources. The goal of this program is to enable individuals working in the field of Early Care and Education to increase knowledge and skills, to obtain and maintain the NH Early Childhood Professional Credential. CCSNH students, working at least 20 hours per week in a NH licensed early childhood program are invited to apply. Eligible students may receive assistance for one ECE Course per term.

Overview

The Computer Technologies Department offers a Programming Certificate for students who want to develop the technical expertise for a career in backend, middle-tier programming or web application development.

The core portion of the Certificate provides students with a solid foundation in programming logic and database design. Students can focus on Java, C++, or C# as their development platform and then expand on their expertise by selecting electives in a particular area.

Successful completion of this program will allow students to seek employment in entry-level programming, quality assurance, technical support, or technical sales and integration.

Note: The Programming Certificate is a rigorous program. Students are expected to spend additional time beyond the minimum to complete requirements and achieve success. Students are also required to have college level reading, writing and math skills prior to enrollment. CIS112G Introduction to Object Oriented Programming or permission of the program advisor is required before taking any CIS1X8G course.

Overview

The Certificate in Welding provides graduates with the ability to meet the needs of entry and intermediate skill levels to acquire sustainable jobs in the field of welding. Upon completion of the program, students may be proficient in the use of welding equipment, set up, and operation for the five major processes; MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy-fuel, and Plasma as well as many of the auxiliary processes such as; FCAW, Aluminum-TIG, Spool guns, etc. The curriculum will also provide students with a solid range of welding theory, blueprint reading, electricity, and fabrication techniques. Upon completion of the program, students will also be prepared for AWS Certification Testing. The program, offered in the evening, will consist of three consecutive semesters.

Dual enrollment: Students enrolled in the Welding Certificate program may elect to enroll in the Associate Degree in Technical Studies. Dual enrollment is contingent upon the active or graduate status of the certificate. Completion of the Welding certificate satisfies the requirement for the technical specialty core (24 credits) of the Technical Studies degree.

Admissions Criteria

Graduation or enrollment in another AVMA CVTEA accredited Veterinary Technology program will fulfill this requirement.

Transfer Credit Policy

In addition to 51黑料网 transfer credit policies, transfer of courses in Veterinary Practice Management more than ten years old will be evaluated by the program coordinator on an individual basis.
